Patina involves a unique process, allowing an artist the flexibility of achieving a variety of different colors. During patina, a specialist reheats the bronze sculpture and applies chemicals with a brush or spray bottle (or both). Once the desired color is achieved, the sculpture is rinsed with cold water to stop the chemical reaction. At the final stage, one or two coats of wax are applied to the sculpture while it is still warm to seal the patina.
